Khalsa Care Foundation in Pacoima. The celebrations included kirtan by Raagis and plenty of food stalls, serving a variety of Punjabi snacks, chaats, sweets and cold drinks arranged by the sangat. Thousands of devotees participated in the festivities by paying obeisance to the Guru Granth Sahib and doing voluntary work in the community kitchens. The Sikhs celebrate this day in remembrance of their sixth Guru, Guru Hargobind Sahibji. The Guru was known as Bandi Chor as he fought against the Mughal rulers and while fighting for human rights, facilitated the release of 52 Hindu kings kept in captivity by the Mughals.
