LOS ANGELES,CA-On Mar 13 the Loyola Marymount University professors and administrators met with the Sikh community to discuss and update the Sikh Study Program at the college.Rattan Joea,H.S. bringing awareness and understanding of the Sikh religion.In some universities Sikh studies are already being offered while in others it will start in the fall semester this year.
Universities will hire qualified teachers.Sikh scholars from around the world will be guest lectures.Students will visit Sikh Temples,Learn Punjabi and the Sikh way of life.In association with the Guru Nanak Dev University(GNDU),Amritsar,students and teachers will visit the Golden Temple in Amritsar.
Loyola Marymount and Claremont School of Theology will start the course this Sept. Claremont Lincoln University started in Feb 2013.
Guest lectures were arranged while, Sikh artifacts exhibition was displayed for six months in the university library.A Vaisakhi cultural program was celebrated.Students and teachers made trips to local Sikh Temples. Relationship with Guru Nanak Dev University was established as a sister university. At Richmond, Virginia University,and University of California,Irvine,discussions are underway to establish Sikh courses and Chair.
