WALNUT,CA- Nimmer Kaur from Walnut Sikh Temple, California won the first position the 29th International Hemkunt Speech Symposium held at Sacramento from July 26 to July 30. The Symposium is held annually worldwide in more than 15 zones where winners from each zone compete for the internationals. Nimmer Kaur from Walnut Sikh Temple who represented Orange County stood first in her respective age group and was recognized by the prestigious and auspicious Sardar Shamsher Singh Award.The position for the first time was shared by two other participants, one each from Tri State and Silicon Valley East.
The program is a great way to connect our younger generation to Gurbaani where public speaking skills are encouraged and reformed. It also helps children learn about Sikh history, culture and philosophy.The 30TH International Symposium will be held next year in London.
