BUENA PARK, CA- The Jain Center here roared with the chants of “Radhe Radhe” for the three days that Pujya Devkinandan Thakurji Maharaj presented the Krishan Katha beginning on August 1 through August 3. Organized by the Vishwa Shanti Sewa Charitable Mission USA, the Katha will travel to New Jersey,
Chicago,Apple Valley, New York and culminate in Toronto, Canada. The goal of this Katha Yatra is to invite the people of the US to attend the opening of Priya Kant Ju Mandir in Vrindavan on February 8, 2016. “ This temple will be the largest temple in Vrindavan and has a cave called the Vraj Gufa which will showcase the many miracles of Lord Krishna” says Vijay Sharma, who has accompanied Maharajji from India. Dr. T Singhal, a member of the Vishwa Shanti Mission welcomed the audience and appealed and invited all for this grand opening in Vrindavan. The Trust has organized all sorts of facilities for devotees who wish to travel to India. The Katha began daily with mantras, invoking the gods to bless the speaker and the audience.Maharajji began with the Kirtan “Tu Radhe Radhe Bol Kasht Mit Jaayenge.” A group of women dressed in colorful clothes jumped at this opportunity and started dancing to the tune of this famous Bhajan.
The Katha as he explained is more about “how to live” with a spiritual perspective. “If you have a plate full of your favorite foods in front of you, but, if you have a headache, you will not be able to eat or enjoy those delicacies. Just as if you do not have peace in your heart and mind, you will not be able to enjoy life no matter how much money you have accumulated.”
Through analogies from daily life Maharajji presented the way to a meaningful life by listening to enlightened souls who in the form or gurus or spiritual leaders come into your lives. The discourse was more a discussion on the lives of various characters from the scriptures and their relevance and significance in the lives of people in this day and age.
“His narrative abilities, the passion in his voice and the authority on the scriptures makes us believe or at least think about god with compelling conviction” says a gentleman in the audience.
When asked if he had ever done a ‘Bhagvad Katha’ in English, he replied. “ English as a language has a lot of limitations compared to Sanskrit or even Hindi. There is only one word ‘God’ for ‘God’, but in our language we have Ishwar, Bhagwan, Vidhaata and many more such words – all to address the Divine.” On the importance of a guru, he says, “A guru leaves you with a thought, a thought that can change your whole life by giving you a path that you had not thought before.”All the money that you give, will at some point vanish or get spent, but, a thought given by a guru, will build a foundation for life.”
Thakurji Maharaj through his interactive discourse captured the audience that listened in rapt attention for over two hours.
