efforts of PCC in spreading Punjabi culture and making the younger generation aware of their language and heritage. Dr Ahluwalia, recurring medical expert for Fox News and the “Good Day L.A.” morning show, as well the host of “All is Well with Dr. Ahluwalia” on Colors TV was specially recognized for his contribution to the Punjabi community.
The afternoon kicked off with brief speeches about the festival of Vaisakhi followed by tiny tots showing their dance moves. The show progressed with a fashion show and some great performances by teenagers and teams from Walnut Gurdwara, Valley Sikh temple and OC Bibas who gave some high energy and well choreographed performances. Even adults got a chance to shake a leg and were welcomed by cheers from the audiences. All performers were in traditional colorful costumes and made the stage come alive. The audiences cheered and were seen enjoying themselves to the fullest. Snover Uppal, one of the committee members while talking to India journal shared that PCC is a non profit organization started by Iqbal and Baljit Grewal and has been putting up Vaisakhi celebrations for nine years. She added that a lot of time and effort was invested to make the program a success. The enrollments started in November last year and classes started in December and were held every Saturday at the Ektaa center in Irvine. Hundreds of children enrolled this year. The well organized event concluded with a sumptuous dinner.
