President of JCSC Dr. Jasvant Modi welcomed all present and introduced the emcee Dr. Nitin Shah. Nitin invited the Associate Dean of San Diego State University  Madhavi McCall, donors Rohak Vora, Usha and Mahesh Wadher and Dr. Jasvant Modi for the lamp lighting. He also introduced and requested Dhan Kaur Sahota, Presidential Chair in Sikh Studies at University of California, Irvine Anneeth Kaur Hundle and Sikh community leader Paul Singh to join in.
Dr. Shah gave brief history of Jain Academic education and mentioned that the Jains will be signing the agreement today while the Sikh community donors will sign the agreement in San Diego. Addressing the gathering, Madhavi McCall highlighted the progress of SDSU and stated that the University  had offered a one year  course in Jain and Sikh studies for one semester which  was very successful. The course was taught by community teachers. Realizing the interest of students, SDSU decided to venture into a Post-Doctoral Fellowship. The University will soon hire a Lecturer who will teach Jain and Sikh Study classes to undergraduate students each semester. This will be offered to 35,000 students of the University. Class size is expected to be 15to 20 students.
Prominent SoCal cardiologist Dr. Harvinder Sahota addressing the gathering said he was thrilled with this association of Jains and Sikhs. The event ended with Dr. Modi thanking all the attendees for their participation.
