
BUENA PARK,CA-During the weekend of May 15 through 17 the Jain Center of Southern California (JCSC) here celebrated the 27th Anniversary of their Center, commemorating the last 27 significant lives of Lord Shri Mahavirswami. Bhakti on Rishabh Dev (first Tirthankar) called “Rishabh Ni Shobha” followed by dinner and Bhakti Bhavna at night. On May 16, members joined for breakfast followed by a procession in which 18 women carried pots filled with holy water mixed with different herbs, gold flakes, saffron, and sandalwood.Each has its own importance and significance and is showered upon the Tirthankar idols, during the ritual called 18 Abhisheks.
The procession was followed by lunch and and then the 18 Abhisheks, in which the idols are showered with holy water while reciting Mantras to purify and recharge the divinity of the idols. After dinner, community members enjoyed a cultural program filled with divine songs and performances.
On May 17 JCSC members performed Sttarbhedi (17) Pooja and changed the Dhwajas (flags) of the temple, which is one of the most auspicious and important celebration.They also installed the newly made Divo (Lamp) and Gyan (knowledge) Bhandar to worship Knowledge. All execucutive committee members, Board of Directors and dedicated volunteers, worked countless hours to make the event a success. Aashishbhai Mehta immersed all the members in devotional music throughout the celebration. Members enjoyed and took part with enthusiasm in all the activities with Tan (physically), Man (mentally) and Dhan (donations).
