REDLANDS, CA- The Shri Lakshmi Narayan Mandir in Riverside participated in a interfaith religious forum on violence triggered by religion on Jan 9. organized by the University of Redlands in the aftermath of the San Bernardino terrorism incident which took place last December. Members of many religious traditions...
attended as panelists. Dr. Shukavak Das, head priest of the Shri Lakshmi Narayan Mandir, was one of the panelist representing the Hindu tradition along with.representatives from the Jewish, Muslim, Christian and Buddhist traditions.
Over 200 professors and students attended and engaged in a lively discussion.
The topics included religious tolerance and radicalization; Islamophobia; and the role of religious leaders to educate and cultivate an atmosphere of religious acceptance in a multi cultural world. Dr. Shukavak pointed out that religious acceptance and not just religious tolerance was one of the greatest contributions that Hinduism has to offer to the world.
