RIVERSIDE,CA-Riverside’s Shri Lakshmi Narayan Mandir brought in the New Year with a record-breaking attendance of around 2000 devotees for its 22nd New Year’s celebration.The program was hosted by Shreenivasa Nakka and started in the morning with the annual Balaji anniversary festival,
which included a beautiful Kalyanam, marriage ceremony, of Lord Balaji, Bhudevi and Shridevi. Following this,a grand Narayan Mahayagna was held with the participation of hundreds of devotees. The Balaji Abhishekam was performed by Pandit Seshacharya assisted by Pandit Giriraj Bhandari. The Narayan Mahayagna was performed by Pandit Shukavak Dasa. After the Kalyanam all the devotees were treated to an exquisite performance of Bharat Natyam by Lathika Mageshwaran. A New Year’s Day auction was held in which a hand carved rosewood altar-mandap was auctioned off for a handsome sum in support of the Mandir.The family of Swarna and Sanyasi Ganta donated the beautiful altar piece. During the program the new slate of board members and temple managers was announced.Ramesh Upadhyayula becomes the Chairman of the Board of Directors along with Bhoodev Tiwari as Vice Chairman, Akshaya Sheth as Finance Chair, and Lakshman Koka as Secretary.Sanjay Jalota becomes the new Mandir President. His team includes Suma Hareesh as Vice President, Usha Agarwal as Secretary and Pani Chakrapani as Treasurer. 2015 was a great year for the Shri Lakshmi Narayan Mandir as it acquired two acres of commercial real estate bringing its total holdings to about eight acres of prime real estate in the city of Riverside. The Mandir has big expansion plans for 2016.
