US and the world , a testimony to the Mission’s emphasis on universal brotherhood. The Grand Ballroom was packed throughout the day as devotees listened to speaker after speaker and special music centered around the main theme of the samagam - ‘ ‘Make Life a Celebration’ - building up to the highlight – the discourse by Baba Hardev Singhji.
The visit also coincided with the opening of the Sant Nirankari Mission center in Norwalk on July 11. The center was inaugurated by Baba Hardev Singhji at a grand opening ceremony attended by hundreds.
In a soft spoken voice, seated on an elaborate white chair with his wife beside him, Baba Hardev Singhji urged the eager devotees to stay connected with the formless one ‘Nirankar’ for this connection will help make life a celebration. Celebrations are marked with happiness and beauty and one can achieve this through a connection with the Formless one. The struggle in life lies in the constant choices one makes to decide whether to give importance to the changeable or unchangeable, eternal or temporal. If we connect to the unchangeable and eternal we can attain bliss or ‘anand’ and can thus celebrate life. Bliss is true happiness beyond the senses. This is found when one surrenders to the Creator or Super Soul. Life does not have to be perfect to have bliss. We have to overcome many obstacles to attain ‘anand’ and connect with ‘Nirankar’. It is important to keep a balance in happiness and pain. Happiness is internal and we cannot blame people or situations. When life becomes a celebration there is beauty in everything we do. At the end of his discourse, hundreds of devotees lined up to seek his blessings.
Earlier in the day, a number of speakers who have been transformed by the message of the Mission, spoke on a slew of topics focusing on important issues in one’s spiritual life including living in bliss, conquering the world, self rejuvenation through self-realization, the power of forgiveness, harmony and oneness.
President of the Sant Nirankari MIssion US, Dr. Iqbal Rai, presented Baba Hardev Singhji with two certificates of Congressional Recognition for the charitable work the mission is doing in the US. Representative of the Alzheimer’s Association Kimiko Kelly presented a plaque to Baba Hardev Singhji in honor of the work the mission is currently doing to find a cure for the disease.
Anu Tandon Sahni on the core team of the SNM Southern California branch, gave an overview of the evolution of SAN in Los Angles, focusing on how from its humble beginnings it has grown to host the samagam in a prestigious venue with attendees from all over the world. She credited the immense growth to the message and work of the mission.
A Video of the opening of the Center in Norwalk located on San Antonio Drive, was also shown. The center will remain open every Sunday from 10 to 12 noon. An Expo with various vendors had a lot to offer attendees on health, recreation, fitness, pain management and yoga. A delicious ‘langar’ was served to all by Manohar Delhi Palace.
