The silver jubilee convention held at the Gayatri Chetna Center here, was presided over by Dr. Pranav Pandya, head of AWGP, in Haridwar. Over the years he has worked to bring science and spirituality together along with Dr. Chinmaya Pandya, who helms the Dev Sanskriti Vishwa Vidyalaya where education is imparted in science and technology along with yoga, culture and holistic health. The four day event began with Ganesh puja conducted by Dr.Pranav Pandya to mark Ganesh Chaturthi. This was followed by series of discourses on scientific spirituality. The talks focused on making changes in our daily life to realize our divine Self. Change requires work to uproot old beliefs, dogmas and replacing them with the seeds of knowledge. The two simple tenets are Gayatri and Yagna. In the next eight years, the Parivar aims to work to bring about change by creating specific programs targeted at removal of ignorance that is rampant in society. Some other topics that were touched upon were: the illuminated path of the social worker; putting life force in sadhana; transforming prana transforms life; importance of swadhyay; mantras and their power.
Meditation & Deep Yagna
One of the highlights of the convention was the sunset meditation conducted at Huntington Beach. The focus was on charging the physical, subtle and causal bodies with solar vibrations leaving the participants renewed. Evenings were filled with enriching musical programs conducted by Rajkumar, Omkaar Patidar, Nimit Thaker, Nikki and Pragna and where Dr Pranav Pandya also sang many songs. Some popular songs played were ‘Aadat Buri Sudharlo,’ ‘Bas Ho Gaya Bhajan,’ and ‘Jai Mahakaal Jai.’
Another popular event many showed up for was the Vedic Deep Maha Yagna which is a procedure to cleanse the mind and the aura. The basis of the fire ritual is to conduct in a smokeless manner and yet get the same benefits as a Dravya Yagna.
The last day drew hundreds of yellow clad followers who eagerly participated in the Kalash Yatra and Maha Yagna - an energetic cleansing process using fire as a medium and mantra chanting as a catalyst to help transform one’s thoughts, beliefs and actions.
The program concluded with prayers for victims of hurricane Florence in the Carolinas. Dr Chinmaya Pandya’s message was positive one. He said, “God may have not given you a PhD or a dream job, but he has given you a heart filled with emotions. So, share that. When you leave from here, you should not be the same person, you should leave with positivity and love in your heart.” He added that while we cannot change the external circumstances, changing the mindset is in our own hands. Amisdt the singing of bhajans and resounding holy chants, the atmosphere was filled with positivity and concluded with prayers for the well-being of all.
