NORWALK, CA – “In the country of Vishwnath (Lord of the Universe), there should be no orphans and in case a child has to live bereft of a mother’s love, we should be the mother of the child”, said Sadhvi Ritamhbara during her discourse at Sanatan Dharma Temple here on Sept 19.

The event was organized by Param Shakti Peeth of America to raise funds for the Vatsalya Gram Project and was attended by nearly 400 devotees and close to $100,000 was raised for the project.Founder of the Vatsalya Gram projects, Sadhvi Ritambhara, a social worker and religious preacher, popularly known as Didi Maa, was here as part of her two-week visit of North America. She said the Vatsalya Gram was a re-establishment movement where children bereft of their mother’s love can avail loving hugs from devoted women. Describing the innovative project, she said in every Vatsalya family, there were five girls, two boys with an aunt and a grandma who complemented each other. The project aims at developing the strong emotional bond and in calculating morality among the individuals. She also talked about her own spiritual journey and how she was initiated by her spiritual Guru, Swami Parmanand. Her organization was acting as a connecting link and creating a better alternative that could replace orphanages and senior care centers where in addition to physical needs, emotional needs of individuals were also fulfilled.
Earlier Vijay Telkikar, in his welcome address, thanked Sadhvi Ritambhara for her visit. Ramjibhai Patel, President of Param Shakti Peeth of America and co-coordinator of the event, said Sadhvi Ritambhara was a purified soul and was committed to the cause that no child was left without motherly love in India. Kaushik Patel in his address appreciated her efforts and said only divine souls can do the kind of work she was doing. Avdhesh and Uma Agarwal were honored and recognized during the event for donating a million dollars for Vatsalya Gram Project at Nalaghar, Himachal Pradesh. Emcee for the event, Ram Singhania described her as an individual with extra-ordinary virtues and a multifaceted personality. The lamp lighting was done by Avdhesh and Uma Agarwal, Dr. Jashwant Patel, Vidya Ben, Ela Ben and Dr. Nagendra. Earlier, Sadhvi Ritambhara met dignitaries and community leaders and discussed the social and religious issues faced by the local Indian-American community. Organizations that supported the event included Gayatri Chetna Center, Southern California Gujarati Cultural Society, Indian American Senior Heritage, All World Gayatri Pariwar, Lohana Samaj, Sanatan Dharma Temple and others.
