of Peace, Secret of Happiness, Magic of Love, Wonder of Meditation and the Wonder of Wonders: God. A master storyteller, Swamiji imparted the message in Vedanta philosophy giving practical tips to a packed auditorium of more than 500 people each evening.
The six-day event held at Chinmaya Rameshwaram here, was a carefully crafted one, under the guidance of Swami Ishwarananda, the head acharya of Chinmaya Mission Los Angeles. A highlight, other than the evening lectures, was on July 4 when a Guru Paduka Puja was led by specially trained balavihar children of CMLA. Swami Ishwarananda, after this, welcomed delegates from various cultural and spiritual organizations in the Southland including the Art of Living, the BAPS Swami Narayan Temple, Sanatan Dharma Temple, the Dharma Civilization Foundation, etc. He emphasized the importance of being connected to those that shared a common spiritual goal on their own unique paths. The audience was then treated to a special discourse ‘From the Eyes of the heart’ by Mukhya Swamiji where he spoke of devotion to the Guru and narrated incidents from his own experience with the founder of the mission, Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda. Everyone present was then invited to partake of a sumptuous Samashti Bhiksha or prasad lunch.
Earlier, the tone for the week was set on July 1 evening, with a soulful bhajan program by Swami Siddhananda, the visiting acharya from Chinmaya Mission Philadelphia. Accompanied by local talent, he sang straight to the hearts of all devotees. Swami Advaitananda, the resident acharya at Chinmaya Mission San Jose engaged everyone present with his two bhakti-laden discourses on the mornings of July 2&3. He narrated two episodes from the Ramayana which showed devotion: the boatman Kevat and the tribal woman Shabri who fed Lord Rama only the fruits she had bit on to ensure that her Lord got only the sweetest fruits of all. During the week, the community was informed of the opening of the Chinmaya Vishavavidyapeeth, the Chinmaya University that will work to revive and rejuvenate studies on Indic traditions and Sanskrit. It currently operates from two campuses in Kolwan near Pune and Veliyanad in Kerala. Two books authored by Swami Ishwarananda were released by Mukhya Swamiji. One, a commentary on the Kasi Vishwanatha Ashtakam and the other on controlling the mind titled, Mindful Work to Mindless Meditation. Mukhya Swamiji also honored and met with long time volunteers and their families. The vibrancy of the organization was evident in the energy and talent that was presented each day. Music, shloka and vedic chanting by children and adult groups were top notch and; volunteers skillfully managed tasks ranging from parking to food.
