BUENA PARK, CA – The Jain Center of Southern California hosted a three-day “Amrit Varsha” event here filled with mediation, singing, and teaching by Revered Master Anandmurti Gurumaa from May 11 to 13. Enlightening discourses were held at the main hall of the Center with over 500 people in attendance throughout the weekend.
Anandmurti Gurumaa held the open event for pragmatic teaching that was infused with wisdom, humor, and compassion. Gurumaa held a discourse of events in Hindi and English on the practical reality of living in the modern world that has competing needs. For the last day of the event which coincided with Mother’s Day, Gurumaa began with meditation and spiritual singing. This was followed with an in-depth spiritual discourse about different religions, their approach to life, mediations, and how individuals can elevate themselves in the modern world. Among the wisdom conveyed by Gurumaa was that “no body is a bad person, they usually have a bad moment”. Gurumaa has held multiple events in India and is currently on a tour of North America. She participated in a similar “Amrit Varsha” event in San Francisco and Canada before coming to Southern California and is now scheduled to host a meditation retreat in Florida. When not travelling, Guruma is often at her ashram in Gannaur, India where she holds similar workshops for her disciples.
