COLUMBIA S.C. - Gov. Nikki Haley’s portrait was unveiled on Jan 12 and was on display as the governor was sworn in for a second term on Jan 14. Artist John Seibels Walker, a South Carolina native, depicted the governor on the first floor of the governor’s mansion. Also shown in framed pictures as part of the portrait are her husband, Michael Haley, daughter Rena Haley, son Nalin Haley and parents Ajit Randhawa and Raj Randhawa.
The painting was displayed - along with portraits of former governors including James B. Edwards, Richard W. Riley, Carroll Campbell and Mark Sanford - on the first floor of the governor’s mansion this week. The portrait depicts Haley in the suit she wore during an address to the 2012 Republican National Convention, along with her Clemson University class ring and an American and South Carolina flag lapel pin. The artist has also painted portraits of Lt. Gov. Glenn McConnell and Supreme Court Chief Justice Jean Toal, among others.
