The award was presented to him for being a active member of the team and being readily available for helping residents with sand bags and being involved in public outreach programs. Vasudevan said, ``We are trained by professionals to handle emergency situations such as earthquakes, floods and any other emergencies. Being part of the program we are actively working with the Fire Department and during last year’s heavy rains there was need to deliver sand bags and setup for residents who needed help. Also, part of the program is public outreach where we setup booths at public events and bringing awareness to be prepared in case of emergencies. CERT’s motto is “doing the greatest good for the greatest number of people”.
