LOS ANGELES, CA - ‘Jaan Jaan Ke’ is a love song which translated into an eye catching and instantaneous hit music video on YouTube. The video was shot in less than a month in the greater Los Angeles area and has reached close to 1.5 million views since its release. The singer Sanj Pal, is a rising star.
He has made a name for himself in Punjab and is expanding to become a star in the US as well. ‘Jaan Jaan Ke’ is his most admired and well-liked piece. Pal met the director of his music video, Vihang Walve, through a mutual friend, producer Kumar Sapra. The two (Walve and Sapra) had worked together previously.
In aspirations of wanting to have a fresh take with this music video, the creators came up with an interesting idea.
“We tried Punjabi elements against a distinct cowboy western style. What resulted was a smooth fusion of two different genres, creating a music video with a flavor all of its own,” said Walve.
The concept for this video came from the song. ‘Jaan Jaan Ke’ eluded to an energetic and vibrant couple who have been together for years and still have the love and passion. Nothing has fizzled out over the years of these two being together. “I wanted to show a guy who teases his girl, but wants her to know that this is his way of showing her affection,” said Walve. Due to a limited amount of time, bringing the song to life was a hastened process. Although there was a time constraint, the team managed to personify the song beautifully in about three weeks.
“One week for pre-production, two days of shoot, and another two weeks for post-production,” said Walve. All rights to the music video were purchased immediately by Speed Records. The video continues to be a hit on YouTube as well as play on a popular Indian Channel, PTC Network. “For me, this is a huge deal. To get over million views on a song that is unique in its taste and a little different from the usual Punjabi music video trends. As well as being appreciated all over the world,” said Walve.
Originally from Mumbai, Walve is now a Los Angeles based director, editor, and motion graphic artist. Before completing his certificate in Film Direction from UCLA extension, Walveworked as a storyboard artist. Some of his previous works include Raavana(2010) and The Stoneman Murders (2009). Furthermore in Hollywood, Walve has completed The Man Who Shook the Hands of Vicente Fernandez (2012) and 5th and Alameda (2010). Currently, he continues to tell stories in Los Angeles and San Francisco working as director, editor, or storyboard artist. Some of the other individuals who came together to make this video possible are Margerita Nicolas, Female Lead; BishanParmar, Executive Producer; Kumar Sapra, Producer; AB Chandra, First Assistant Director; Loro Robles, Wardrobe Stylist; and Gina Banic, Hair Stylist. Last but not least, Speed Records, provided the platform to present the video.
“Working on this video was truly a multicultural experience as we collaborated with all new people from the industry,” said Walve.
