July 28 to August 2 in Lincoln/ Omaha Nebraska. Serena also won the silver medal for a couples performance. Serena’s home rink is Ice Station Valencia and she is on the California Girls Synchronized Skating Team.
The State Games of America is the largest Olympic-style event featuring competition between State Games medal winners(gold, silver, bronze)from across the nation. The event attracted over 15,000 participants to compete in more than 60 sports. US Olympic track & field and bobsled athlete, Lolo Jones, and Olympic wrestling gold medalist, Jordan Burroughs participated in the lighting of the cauldron at the ceremonies. Serena is on the Principal’s Honor Roll at Nobel Charter Middle School and volunteers at the Learning Center of Valley Family Center, a non profit that serves women and children who are victims of domestic violence or sexual abuse. Serena also volunteers for Caring Hand for Children a non-profit in Los Angeles, formed to educate under privileged children and currently sponsors over 2,400 children across 17 projects in India.
