RIVERSIDE,C.A.-California Governor Jerry Brown has appointed Ravneet Kaur to the California Community Colleges Board of Governors. Kaur, 20, of Riverside, was a barista at Starbucks and a tutor at Riverside City College in 2014, according to a press release. She was a volunteer at Hemet Valley Medical Center from 2012 to 2013 and at Sukh Sansar Hospital in Punjab, India in 2011.
Kaur, a Democrat, is a Region IX Governance and Internal Policy senator for the Student Senate for California Community Colleges and a member of the Riverside Community College District Honors Program and Associated Students of Riverside City College. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem.
