CHINO HILLS, CA - Professor Hazara Singh, eminent educationist, author and freedom fighter passed away on Oct. 22 at the age of 92, in Ludhiana. as head of the department of languages, Journalism and Culture, Punjab Agricultural University but wrote extensively on social causes. He was at ease in both prose and verse and published works in English.
As a freedom fighter, he was involved in the Quit India Movement and his activities in the freedom struggle earned him the wrath of the British government who terminated his education scholarship. It proved to be a turning point, as he plunged headlong into the national fight.
He is survived by two daughters and two sons. Prof Hazara Singh outlived his wife by six years. The Antim Ardas took place in Ludhiana on Oct.26.
