OXNARD, CA – An Indian- American resident of Oxnard Labh Nigah, was stabbed to death at a park here on Nov 13 morning. The Oxnard police called the death of the 55-year-old father a “senseless act of violence,” after identifying his body on Nov 14. Labh Nigah, was walking in Sierra Linda Park at about 8:40 a.m. Nov 13 after he dropped his son off at school, when he was repeatedly stabbed by an unknown number of assailants,
according to the Oxnard Police Department. He succumbed to his injuries soon after the incident. The park is located adjacent to an elementary school in a “safe and prosperous” residential area that rarely sees violent crime, police said.
The motive for the killing is still unknown, police added.
Surprisingly, the incident took place in broad daylight in the morning when the park was full of people. Police Cmdr. Eric S. Sonstegard said there was no evidence to indicate the killing was a hate crime. Police officers were on Nov 14 speaking to neighbors and parkgoers in an effort to find out what happened.
