LOS ANGELES, CA - Smita G. Bagla was recently re-elected as President of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) SoCal Chapter for the year 2019. She is the CEO of Aligned Strategies, LLC and Managing Partner at Amritt. Speaking to IJ she highlighted some of her achievements as president in 2018. ``In 2018, along with my team,
we covered new ground,’’ she said explaining that TiE SoCal’s monthly programs included special sessions for skill building games and gamified networking to build quality connections among the attendees. ``We expanded our reach to universities, incubators and accelerators, to include aspiring entrepreneurs as an inclusive organization. We launched TiE SoCal Angel Investors initiative as a pilot. Five charter members got together and invested in OOTify, an AI powered mental health platform startup. TiE Socal’s Charter Member base grew from 24 charter members to 52. TiE Charter Members are successful entrepreneurs and thought leaders who are willing to contribute to fellow members,’’she said.
Asked about her vision for 2019, Bagla said,`` the goal is to expand TiE’s influence to all of Southern California’s aspiring entrepreneurs. We have access to a goldmine of opportunities, capital and talent. My goal is to provide a forum for validation of ideas, a platform to creating relevant connections and investment for passionate and talented startups and professionals. These efforts are being presented under the TiE Pitch, TIE Education, TiE Young Professional and TiE SoCal Angels Initiatives.’’
She further explained that many respected angel groups and incubators were eager to partner with the Chapter as new TiE SoCal charter members. ``This year, many more startups are showing interest in presenting to our Charter Members for mentorship and early stage investments. We will be taking some of them under our umbrella and help them present to various Santa Barbara, West LA, Glendale, OC and San Diego based partner investors. Along with my TiE SoCal Executive Committee in 2019, I am looking forward to presenting TiE SoCal as an inclusive and fun organization that people are excited to be part of,’’ she said.
