to celebrate her 73rd birthday. Always being the adventurous spirit, this choice was made easier after hearing how much fun her daughter, Kunika, had when she went skydiving. Describing her experience, Jain mentioned that she was the eldest among the 20 or so individuals who were on the plane with her and were about to share in this adventure with her. Among all of the participants, she was the second to take a turn. Fearlessly and with absolutely no butterflies in her stomach, Jain took her turn to free fall jump out of the plane. A minute after jumping, Jain and her instructor opened their parachute.
At various points after she jumped off the plane, pictures of her were taken so she would be able to treasure that moment forever. Seven minutes later she was back on land. It took her seven minutes to come down to the ground because of her weight.
While narrating the story of how she decided to go skydiving and the actual experience of skydiving, Jain had a note of excitement in her voice that did not get dull at any point of the story. Additionally, she said that she would love to do it again.
Jain stated that this accomplishment qualified her to be in the Guinness World Book of Records as the eldest skydiver in her age group. However for various reasons they decided not to go through with this. At the end of the day all that mattered to her was that she and her family knew she had completed such an amazing accomplishment.
Although, her family at first was apprehensive about her going skydiving because of her age, putting all their apprehensions aside, Jain decided that she would celebrate her birthday by going skydiving. No one she knows in her age group has gone skydiving. So, this was in tune with her persona of being original, and she knew she had to do it. Her personality is such that she always has been different and never felt the need give in when pressured. She mentioned that she listens to what her family has to say but in the end does what she feels is right for her. Jain stated that she was never the kind of person who could sit in a cubicle and do the typical office job. She is too social for that and needs to be out and about meeting new people. Continuing in her need for being adventurous and original, Jain has decided that she wants to go paragliding for her upcoming 74th birthday. Jain feels that age is just a state of mind; it should never hinder anyone from doing anything they want to do in life. Her daughters, Rasika (oldest) Radhika (middle) and Kunika (youngest), have inherited their mother’s sense of adventure because they have an liking for such activities as well. According to Jain, her youngest is the daredevil of the family. Having visited three-quarters of the world, Jain and her husband aspire to maintain their love for traveling and plan to see the remaining quarter of the world. Jain is determined to live life to the fullest and live life as if there is no tomorrow because, “Kya patha kal ho na ho?”
