the US to connect with hundreds of alumni. The team included Dr G.L. Shekar, Principal of the organization. To an intimate gathering of around 80 guests at the Royal Delhi Palace here on May 3, Murthy, who is on the board of Princeton and other prestigious institutes in the world, touched on a number of subjects highlighting the need for collaborations with NIE alumni to scale up the academic prowess of the institute. He pushed for bringing up the institute on the weighing scale to contend with others globally and called for the support of the alumni in this task. He lamented the lack of resources for education in India and called for alumni to help with their expertise by way of giving back. He also touched on various socio-economic issues which are hindering progress in India. No evening would be complete without India’s foremost entrepreneur sharing his experiences in building one of the world’s cutting edge companies. An interesting point he brought up was clarity and focus, saying entrepreneurs should be able to explain their business in one sentence. If they could do that, they would be successful. Murthy well known for his humility and accessibility, took questions from the audience and provided them with his insight and solutions. Others in the NIE delegation included Srinath Batni, President ;Sivagopal Calluri and Rajgopal Kadambi, Directors; S.K. Lakshminarayana, Hon. Secretary.

Later, the Voice of Specially Abled People (VoSAP) team met with Murthy, and shared the vision of VoSAP, specifically on how corporations like Infosys can continue to make a huge social impact by hiring people with disabilities. As Murthy is an extremely well respected corporate leader, he can help create awareness on this issue among other Indian corporate leaders. VoSAP founder, Pranav Desai proposed to Murthy and the team to consider setting up an Innovation Lab at NIE for promoting innovation in Assistive Technology, ICT sector to empower specially abled people. Dr Shekar invited Desai to discuss this further at NIE.
Murthy began the alumni connect effort in Austin, TX on April 30 and concluded the trip in New York. In a span of eight days, they organized events in six US cities and met with NIE alumni.Meetings were also held in Washington D.C, Chicago, and the Bay Area.
