their ‘American Dream’ come true but they have also assisted others in making their dreams come true. Senator Tony Mendoza presented the awards to the 2016 winners. Winner of the 2016 Woman of the Year Award in the area of Business was bagged by Vinita Vineet who was honored for her “outstanding contributions as a prominent woman and community leader who has helped make our community a better place…,” according to the Senate Resolution.
Vineet worked hard at making her ‘American Dream’ come true from when she moved to the US from India. She opened the first beauty salon in the City of Cerritos and later opened an additional seven stores throughout Southern California. Vineet has employed over 400 people in the hope of helping them achieve their goals. “As a self-made entrepreneur, she set the bar in terms of exceptional service and was a cornerstone for women and men starting similar businesses throughout Southern California,” said Pat Patnaik, the individual who nominated Vineet for this award. Furthermore, Vineet helped to create the United Federation of Indo-Americans in Southern California (UFICA) as another way to give back to the community. Creating a name for herself and her work, Vineet has motivated and continues to inspire women to think like her and do anything and everything possible to help others.
