CHICAGO, IL - 1000 spectators. 250 participants. 17 board members. 1 fantastic show. On April 5th, 2014, the Indian Student Association (ISA) at UIC shocked Chicago with the best college cultural show ever seen: India Night 2014: Kollege Na Milegi Dobara (You Only Live College Once). Chicago’s largest undergraduate South Asian show featured a...
variety of acts to showcase the diversity of India. The show was centered on the importance of living each and every moment of college to its fullest. The emcees, Parth Shah, Jay Patel, and Xavier Thyvelikakath, took the audience on a journey through four years of college memories. Four weeks before graduation, Parth loses all his memories of college after being the victim of a car accident. As the show progresses, Jay and Xavier attempt to remind Parth of all the good times before graduation. To relive the college experience, this was the first year that India Night displayed all four class dances. Since they will be graduating this year, the seniors were the inspiration for this year’s show. Mesmerizing the audience, the highlight of India Night 2014 was MOD: Ministry of Dhazaara, a group of men from various nationally competitive Chicago dance groups. These men came together to rock the stage one last time. Each member of the audience was stunned by the amount of precision, grace, and fluidity of their moves. They definitely left a lasting impression and made one last great college memory. The show was closed by UIC Dangeraas, who placed at multiple competitions throughout the season, taking home 1st place at Dandia Dhamaka and is headed to Raas Nationals. Every dance group performed their finest on the stage, leaving the audience with a truly jaw-dropping experience.
