Two powerhouse artists and their mind-blowingly talented bands from completely different musical styles collaborated to bring the house down. Both artists are epic and marvelous in their own space; however, when the duo came together they became an incredible force to reckon with. Stage Paint Productions in association with Chateau Luxe, Holiday Inn, and Deepak Garg brought `Klose to my Life’ with symphony orchestra a musical experience with Sonu Nigam and Neha Kakkar who with their melodious and feet-stomping tracks regaled audiences of all ages on April 6 to a sold-out Long Beach Arena of over 6000 fans. Nigam who now has nearly 30 years of experience under his belt, having started his career in 1990, is well-known for singing every kind of song whether it be the melodious tracks or the masala numbers. On the other hand, Kakkar who has been in the industry for about a decade is mainly known for playback singing the upbeat, fast-paced, party numbers.
Therefore, the audience was split in deciding who their preferred artist of the evening was. The older generation appeared to lean
towards Nigam while the younger generation seemed to lean towards Kakkar.
Vipal Roy, master of ceremonies, introduced Kakkar as the most followed artist on a variety of social media platforms. Post a presentation of pictures and videos of Kakkar, she came on stage wearing a black crop top and a silver skirt. Not only did she sing her popular Bollywood tracks she also sang a few songs by her brother, Tony Kakkar.
“I love to spread happiness so I would love to see you all having fun and smiling,” said Kakkar after her first song.
Aashiq Banaya Aapne, O Humsafar, and Mile Ho Tum Humko were the songs which garnered the most audience appreciation. Audiences clapped along to the beats of the tracks.
Bringing fans to their feet and starting the party atmosphere, Kakkar invited to the stage Kunal Pandit and Vibhor Parashar. Pandit and Parashar were two contestants from the 10th season of Indian Idol, which Kakkar judges. All three together rocked the stage and entertained to the fullest.
High Rated Gabru, Morni Banke, and the remixed version of Coca Cola Tu were the tracks which got everyone out of their seats to sing and dance along with Kakkar, Pandit, and Parashar.
Moving effortlessly is a trait that is associated with Kakkar. She is able to bring her songs to life by performing her own steps as well as the hook steps while singing.
Dilbar, Cheez Badi, Muskurane Ki Wajah Tum Ho, Jeene Ke Hai Char Din, in addition to many more songs became an assorted mashup Kakkar sang along with Pandit and Parashar. Some of the popular tracks were originally sung by her and some were made well-known by other famous artists.
The culmination of songs with no breaks in between was loved by the fans. Taking a sentimental turn, Kakkar sang an emotional track which she dedicated to all the mothers in the world. “This song is for all the moms,” said Kakkar before singing her version of Tu Kitni Achhi Hai.
Taking audiences out of the emotional mood, Kakkar brought the atmosphere back into party mode.
London Thumakda and Kar Gayi Chull caused some fans in attendance back on their feet dancing as Kakkar sang, danced, and was the complete firecracker that she is.
Kala Chashma and Aankh Maare concluded the trio’s time on stage.
Needing some time to change bands and setups, the audience was given a 10-minute intermission.
Roy once again came on stage to introduce the man of the hour, Nigam. After a demonstration of pictures and videos of Nigam, the well known artist came on stage, welcomed by a roar of applause from the audience.
Nigam announced that he had decided that tonight was going to be a melodious and harmonious songs kind of evening. To which the audience had no objections.
Hans Mat Pagli was a soothing track from Toliet: Ek Prem Katha which Nigam sang with the audience members whistling in appreciation. “This song is the only good thing that has ever come out of a toilet,” said Nigam.
Continuing the melodious vibe, Nigam sang a variety of songs from his nearly 30 years in the industry. Not only did he sing, but in between, he commented about the songs to joke with the audience.
Suraj Hua Maddham, Yeh Dil Deewana, and Mere Haath Mein were some of the popular tracks which attained an affectionate response from the audience.
Nigam then sang a remix of many of his famous and popular songs. Phir Milenge Chalte Chalte which is already a mix of older songs was included in the mashup along with the title track of Mujshe Shaadi Karogi and Jeene Ke Hai Char Din which Kakkar sang previously.
Kakkar and Nigam both spontaneously would point their microphone toward the audience requesting them to sing along which they most happily did. Transforming the mood, Nigam decided to take the audience to a masti (naughty) filled ambiance. During which he sang a few of his party numbers.
Tenu Leke and Nagada Nagada were two of the tracks that got people on their feet.
No performance of Nigam’s is complete without him singing the title track from Kal Ho Naa Ho. Hearing the introductory beats of the song got everyone in attendance enthusiastically thrilled. The title track from Kal Ho Naa Ho is considered to be Nigam’s anthem. He even joked that when he dies this song will be utilized to immortalize him. Nigam sang this fused with Abhi Mujh Mein Kahin.
At this point, Nigam requested everyone who made the concert possible to come to the stage. Manoj Kaytee from Stage Paint Productions and others from Balaji Entertainment came to the stage and took a quick bow. Nigam then had Kakkar come back on stage. Together the dynamic duo lit the stage on fire with their wonderfully remarkable voices. The concert came to a close with both artists thanking everyone who made the event possible as well as the audience for attending. Sunny Bhalla, Zoya Khan, Rakhshan Samudrala, Jaspal Jammu, and Nazir Beria were part of the Stage Paint Productions team who assisted in this event.
