daughter Jamie Lever and Gaurav Sharma. Sharma opened the show with a few jokes. Since he was the first to take the stage, his opening joke was aimed at the audience members who were still staggering in to their seats even though the program had already started. “Looking at all of you, I think you were all told the show would start at different times,” said Sharma. However his most crowd pleasing jokes were about marriage and the relationship between husband and wife.
“No husband dares to steal the remote from his wife during her television programs,” said Sharma to which the audience clapped and laughed in response. After telling a few more jokes, Sharma introduced the man of the hour. “A comedian who has inspired many generations,” said Sharma as his way of announcing Lever on stage.
Lever came on stage in a brown suit with a white button down shirt. As he was about to begin, Lever stated that comedy is all about observations. Inspiration can come from anywhere. With a wide range of jokes for the audience, Lever focused on how our country is filled with special characters. Continuing to entertain, a popular joke was comparing the driving systems in India and in the United States. “The way people drive here is systematic and there usually is a reason for the traffic, but in India everyone goes in every direction and when there is a traffic jam no one knows why or what for,” said Lever to which the audience cheered, clapped, and whistled. Along those lines, Lever carried on with a joke about the directions applications on our phones. Lever joked about how the directions in the US are more systematic and straightforward compared to those in India. Lever told jokes in a very animated manner and gesticulated to drive the point home. Never did he stand still, acting along to complete the entire joke telling experience. Not only that, he also danced remarkably well ! Taking time to give himself and the audience a break, Lever went off stage .Once the break was over, Sharma came back on stage to continue entertaining the audience.
“Whenever I come on stage people are walking around,” said Sharma because some individuals had not made it back to their seats after the intermission. Sharma introduced Jamie Lever, Johny Lever’s daughter and comedian. “The best female comedian in India,” said Sharma as he announced Jamie Lever. Jamie Lever told a few jokes about the current generation of individuals. Her most popular joke was about how everything ends up on Facebook.
People post about each and every event that occurs in their lives and how all of their posts are liked by their friends. Good, bad, and everything in between. “New car, 200 likes; death in the family, 400 likes; change of default picture, 100 likes. Why would you like someone’s post about death?” said Jamie Lever. Continuing with her set, Jamie joked about how celebrities come on reality shows to promote something. Not only that but they judge as well. “Mithun da, one of the famous actors, judges a reality show and his most popular comment is ‘Kya Baat’ till today we still have no idea what that ‘baat’ is,” said Jamie Lever. Concluding her jokes, Jamie called on her father, to come take the stage. Johny joined his daughter, jokingly calling her a‘ manufacturing defect.’
“Every generation thinks that the songs from their time are evergreen and that the songs from the newer generation are not as good,” said Johny , to which the audience cheered and clapped in agreement. Johny continued his jokes by stating how the times have changed. Kids of the previous generation would say their alphabets as A is for apple, B is for banana, C is for cat and so on, but with today’s generation of kids it goes A is for apple computer, B is for blackberry phone, C is for computer and so on. The ABC have gone hi-tech as well. The audience continued to enjoy his humor which kept them in splits as they laughed the night away.
