Reshma Dordi, Kunal Nayyar and reps from Etihad Air HOLLYWOOD, CA - It was a star-studded event as celebrities from around the globe came out to celebrate Showbiz India’s 15th anniversary as a premier South Asian television show and recent launch on B4U Music worldwide. The guest list was a virtual who’s who of the most popular personalities in South Asian entertainment. The gala took place at Tru Nightclub here, on Nov. 14. It began with red carpet appearances where the press gathered to interview the stars of the night. Miss New Jersey USA, Emily Shah greeted fans as she arrived to the venue. Actress Shriswara, from films such as Bhaag Milka Bhaag and D-Day, was also in attendance. Model Melanie Kannokada, the face of Bare Escentuals Cosmetics, looked stunning as she posed for photos. Actor Parvesh Cheena from Outsourced fame rounded out the star-studded red carpet for the evening.
Video messages from the likes of Shahrukh Khan, Dev Patel, Kal Penn, and Priyanka Chopra played in the background as guests and dignitaries made their way to the stage area for a special awards ceremony and fashion show.
The emcees for the evening were Nikhil Dhawan and Esha Mohanh, the young hosts of various Showbiz India television segments. They kept the mood cheerful with their professionalism and quick wit throughout the event.
The night’s main festivities began with a glamorous fashion show put on by Frontier Heritage and Shail K USA. Models from all ethnic backgrounds walked the runway with myriad ensembles from business wear to evening wear. Nita Asija, owner of Frontier Heritage, was also in attendance to showcase her collection.
Along with the beautiful gowns displayed on stage, no ensemble would be complete without the right shoes. The models were also wearing the top designs from Sofia Z, a women’s show line started by Usha Patel and Sonia Kadakia. And not to be outdone, Bhindi Jewelers supplied all the jewelry worn on stage.
The awards ceremony capped the night honoring actor Kunal Nayyar for his achievement in entertainment and leadership in philanthropy. Nayyar, who plays Rajesh Koothrappali on the hit sitcom The Big Bang Theory, was humbled with the recognition. He dedicated the award to Sachin Tendulkar, who recently retired from international cricket play after 24 years. Nayyar also was quick to thank his wife, former Miss India Neha Kapur, for her support and dedication.
The night’s main event culminated with a few words from the Producer of Showbiz India, Reshma Dordi. She addressed the wonderful accomplishments Showbiz India was able to achieve since its inception 15 years ago. Apart from her television presence, her entrepreneurial skills also led to creating a beauty product line called Reshma Femme.
The gala extended into the wee hours of the morning as celebrities and attendees mingled and hit the dance floor after the ceremonies. DJ Itesh and DJ Sukh kept the music pumping all night long, mashing together the latest and greatest American and Bollywood hits.
