ARTESIA,CA - Shivaji Maharaj America Parivaar celebrated the 344th Rajyabhishek ( coronation) Anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on June 8 at the Himalayan Cuisine here with 200 people in attendance. ARTESIA,CA - Shivaji Maharaj America Parivaar celebrated the 344th Rajyabhishek ( coronation) Anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on June 8 at the Himalayan Cuisine here with 200 people in attendance. along with organizing committee members lit the lamp to start the event.Singing of the American and Indian National anthems followed. Sangeeta Kopalkar mesmerized the audience with her melodious voice singing special coronation songs.
Chetan Manohar, emcee, introduced Vijay Patil who extended a warm welcome to all. He described the numerous qualities of Shivaji Maharaj, his leadership, management, strategy, visionary, and more notably, his founding of Hindavi Swarajya, a state created by the people for the people, over 380 years ago. Patil claimed that Shivaji Maharaj believed that the kingdom belonged to the “people” and he was just an administrator of it. He developed a merit-based society where there were equal rights to all citizen.
Anshuman Sinha introduced Dr. Fierro who welcomed the audience and described his views on leadership.
Vasundhara Pawar then introduced the guests of honor Mannohar Shinde, Dr Seema Hanamsagar, Sanjay Shah, Arun Bhumitra and other community leaders. She also recognized the Nepali community leaders who were present and thanked all the sponsors for their generous support. Jagdish Gaikwad and Milind Nandedkar then presented the Chhatrapati Legacy Awards to Dr. Gopal Marathe and Ashok Madan, for their contribution to culture and the community respectively. Dr. Fierro presented the awards.
Dr. Sinduri Jaysinghe, founder of Savithri Arts Academy, then captivated the audience with a dance drama on Shivaji Maharaj.
Aparna Hade spoke on Rajmata Jijabai, mother of Shivaji Maharaj. She explained the importance of Jijabai in shaping the life and values of Shivaji Maharaj.
Abhay Hanamsagar provided an eye-opening account of the historic Panipat War. HIs speech took the audience on a historic tour and brought them back to the present making them realize the value of unity and leadership in today’s world.
This was followed by an inspiring speech on Shivaji Maharaj by Omkar Katre, a middle school student who was accompanied by two elementary school children, Eshan Patil and Om Patil as his fellow Mavalas (soldiers). In his short speech, Katre described Shivaji Maharaj as a great, heroic, and inspiring legend and concluded that he would remain a source of Inspiration and pride for many generations! Two classical dances by Shankara Dance Academy and Rangashree Academy kept the audience engaged. Patil thanked the audience for their active engagement. The event concluded with a sumptuous dinner.
