ARTESIA, CA - Who doesn’t love an ice cream? And, when it comes in unique flavors and mouth relishing snowy delicacies, yum... the idea certainly does not go unnoticed. So, presenting to you is one such ice cream parlor, Chillz Snow N Desserts, which has unmatched flavors and combinations that can only be dreamt of!
The ice cream parlor that serves low calorie, eggless ice creams in Artesia for the past few months, also deals in snow ice that is made from real fruit juices and is different from other places that use syrup.
Once you enter the parlor, decorated green walls, white high tables-chairs and eye-popping colors welcome with loads of promises offering traditional, non-traditional ice creams to all. It would be just right to say that the aroma, menu guides portraying Hawaiian and other ‘desi’ ice cream flavors, binge you to take an extra dip into the many varieties offered at the store. They also have a pretty big menu with several offerings that you can’t resist.
However, there is a lot of hard work behind the beautiful store and ice cream creations. Owner Vishal Gandhi who is into the business for the last 10 years, and earlier owned two ice cream parlors in Edison, New Jersey, made a halt at California’s Artesia for very popular reasons- sunny weather and easygoing lifestyle. Talking about his motivations, Gandhi mentions, “I used to indulge in five ice creams at a time when young; even today I have a sweet tooth and that has helped me build my favorite activity into a dream business.” No wonder, the store stands tall, distinguished and well received. Even Gandhi agrees that he has developed an intricate taste of unique flavors with some help from manufacturer/consultant Dr. Kanthi Parekh, who holds a Ph.D. in food technology. He claims, “Our most popular ice creams are Ferrero Rocher and Pan Masala. Ferrero is made with real candy and it tastes like real candy. You can see pieces of it. That is our unique flavor, I don’t think anybody else has it. Also, Pan Masala is made with real Pan leaves and sweet mukhwas.” Elaborating, Gandhi asserts, “Our Badshahi falooda drink is very popular. Once a 60 year old lady visited the store and complimented us for our excellent customer service. She also praised us for kulfi falooda and said that it is better than any other on Pioneer Blvd. I can’t deliver same taste like back home, because of milk fat difference other than that, our ice creams have real Indian taste; are natural, homemade, 100 percent eggless and vegetarian.”
Talking about Hawaiian snow flavors, he explains that they are very light, fluffy and made with real fruit juices; some of the flavors are Mango, Pineapple, Pinacolada, Honeydew, Strawberry among others. “One can also opt for condensed milk drizzle,” he further states. According to one of the regular customers, Melly, “It’s difficult to describe the texture but it’s almost like a frozen cotton candy. It’s light, creamy, and melts in your mouth in an incredibly satisfying way.”
Gandhi agrees. He says, “Snow is popular in the Asian community”. Talking about catering , he notes, “customers can pick up ice cream buckets for about $75, which is less than $1.50 per cup.”
In the Hawaiian ice section, the offerings come in small, medium and large bowls with reasonable prices ranging from $4.25 to $7.75. One gets a total of 28 flavors to choose from and all the numbers associated with each flavor are displayed on the wall with accompanying pictures. It is worth mentioning here that Felissa Rose, a Hollywood horror movie celebrity, has also visited the store and made good remarks about its products; in fact, Miss California has also modeled for the store while making an appearance at Chillz. Chillz is located at 11660 South St. in Artesia. Call (562) 809-7669 for more information.
