Fateh Singh School presented classical style Keertan. Thirteen students presented poems and five student jathas presented Shabads. Student Dhaddi Jatha Simran Kaur, Jassica Kaur and Sukhvir Kaur presented the history of Ruhel Khand in traditional ballad style singing. Principal Onkar Singh on the occasion said people who were misled by religious leaders of the time were shown the path of righteousness and spiritual awakening by Guru Nanak.
Celebrations concluded with ‘Nagar Kirtan’ (Parade) at the Gurdwara campus attended by the students of the school and congregation members. Students also exhibited Sikh martial art (Gathka) skills. In a similar event, the children of Guru Nanak Children’s Academy (GNCA) celebrated the Prakash Divas of Guru Nanak Dev at Sikh Center of Orange County, Santa Ana on Nov 16. The entire program, beginning with the Japji Sahib, Kirtan, Ardaas and Hukummnama was conducted by the children themselves under the guidance of the GNCA staff. The children, ranging from 4 years to 15 years, presented speeches and poems on the life and teachings of Guru Nanak. The hall resounded with the recitation of the sacred ‘Baani’ as different groups of children presented Shabad Kirtan. Another significant achievement of the GNCA children was the conclusion of the Sehaj Paaths, which had started during the summer by current GNCA students of upper grades and graduate alumni. They were awarded ‘Siropa’ (robe of honor) in appreciation of their effort and commitment.
