SANTA ANA, CA - In her recent visit to Santa Ana Gurdwara, Orange County Sheriff Sandra Hutchens , responding to Dr Sahota's request , agreed to hire Sikhs with turbans as deputy sheriffs in her department . The aim behind this request was  to make the American public aware of the Sikh religion. This will help remove misconceptions and confusions of Sikhism with other religions. In addition Sheriff  Hutchens said...

she is willing to have Sikh children between the ages of 11 to 17 ,  with long hairs (Jura & Gutti) as volunteers  and interns  in her office. In early 1990 'S a similar request was made by Dr Sahota to then Los Angeles Sheriff Lee Bacca and a turbaned Sikh was made deputy. The Gurdwara Secretary Avinder Singh Chawla introduced the Sheriff's husband Larry  Hutchens and  her Assistant Don  Barnes .The invited guests were all honored with  Saropas. Gurdwara  President Sukhi  Dhillon  gave the note of thanks.
