board members, his family and  members of the community who have participated in this huge project along the way. “This project has been a collective effort of the entire community and would not have been possible without the support of each and every member”, said Shah adding that the purpose of having yet another Gurudwara was very specific – to provide a place of worship, where future generations of Sikhs could have a great learning experience in a friendly environment . He went on to introduce the NSST  Board members . Professor Sarabjit Singh explained the Gurbani in English and its deep meaning.  Hazoori Raagi Jatha Nanak Sadan and Sant Anoop Singh Ji (Una Sahib wale) performed  kirtan as well.NSST  President Mokshinder Singh said,” I am glad to advise that we are making ongoing efforts to enter tain interfaith dialog across the spectrum of religious institutions so as to promote a better understanding and acceptance of the Sikh faith and to learn from our friends of other faiths.” This vision, he said, would be accomplished through providing spiritual and temporal assistance to  Sikh community members and helping them assimilate and become a productive part of mainstream life in the US. Los Angeles Sheriff Jim McDonnell, in a  message, congratulated the Board of Directors upon their achievement and service to the  Sikh community  and was sure that the centre would provide for both its members and to all the residents of  Los Angeles and wished them all prosperity and success.  In addition to the religious functions, the Gurudwara will also serve as a Community Center  with the aim of meeting the  needs of the growing Sikh community.
Gajinder Shah explained that they have attempted to identify the concerns of the community   and to provide a venue to address and assist with these  matters.  One of these is the senior program which will provide a safe environment for seniors to congregate during weekdays and be able to use library facilities on a daily basis. On the agenda is provision of transportation for seniors in the local area to and from the center.
Facilities like a study center for Gurmat Sangeet will be used to teach classical devotional singing, Tabla, Harmonium, Rebab and language classes will also be provided  by three Raagis  who have graduated in Gurmat Sangeet. They will not only perform but also will teach. A  library  containing religious and historic books is  being planned  along with community events on Immigration, tax clinics, nutrition, adult English teaching  and others needed by the community.  The Gurudwara aims at  reaching out  to the neighborhood  to make them aware of the message of Sikhism -  the principle of universal brotherhood of mankind
