Convention and Entertainment Center here. An artist with a great range of music, Singh sang a variety of his own songs as well as tracks popularized by other singers. Not only did he come on stage to sing for his fans, he entertained them with an interactive and energetic performance. Previously Singh has toured the Los Angeles area twice. However, this is his first concert tour in the Los Angeles area which was promoted by Stage Paint Productions - ‘Mika Singh Live in Concert.’
Prior to Singh’s appearance on stage, there were three openers who performed a song each to get the audience amped for what was to come. Kriti Arneja, Raman Kapoor, and Akira respectively performed prior to Singh’s highly anticipated arrival. These three also performed alongside Singh during the concert. Singh started by singing off stage. Just hearing his voice without even seeing him got the audience cheering, screaming, and unable to contain themselves. Originally a Sufi song, Singh’s first song of choice was “Dama Dam Mast Qalandar.” At some point while singing, Singh appeared on stage and his presence caused the audience members to get out of their seats to jump and dance along to his singing.
Continuing the evening with a series of his own songs as well as music from other artists, Singh entertained the audience with his voice and energy. Between the audience and Singh, there seemed to be an interaction of such high energy that it appeared that both parties were on a sugar rush the entire night.
“Tu Mere Agal Bagal” and “Gandi Baat” were the first of his songs which garnered a huge and loving response from the fans. However, one of his songs that got the most positive response was “Billo.” With this track those in attendance could once again no longer contain themselves. This song brought the audience to their feet to dance as Singh sang. The energy in the hall was not only depicted by the audience, in between verses Singh took the time to show off some of his dance moves as well. Singh dancing as he sang caused the audience to cheer, scream, and shout. As Singh performed the screen behind him projected a variety of different images. Stage Paint Productions demonstrated a wide variety of graphics. The screen depicted the energetic audience which in return caused the rest of the audience to get amped up. Additionally, the screen intermittently had Mika Singh’s name where Singh and the band or the audience members could be seen through his name. Mashing up a few songs including songs that are not originally his, Singh continued to keep the audience on their feet with “Mauja Hi Mauja,” “Dhanno,” “Humma” and “Jumme Ki Raat Hai.” At this time, Singh took the time to demonstrate some of his other talents, as he took to the drums to play along with his band.
Whenever Singh felt like it, he would direct the microphone at the audience who in response happily sang along. Additionally, whatever Singh said to do those in attendance happily obliged.
After performing for about an hour and a half, Singh took a break and gave the audience a chance to do the needful and come back with the same amount of energy. Post intermission, Singh came back to sing a few songs from a previous time period. “Jab Din Dhal Jaye,” “In Aankhon Ki Masti,” and “Hoton Se Chhulo Tum” were the songs which garnered the most audience appreciation.
Taking a few minutes to thank the individuals who participated in bringing him to Los Angeles, Singh called on stage the promoters of the evening. To continue the appreciation the promoters thanked the audience for their presence, love, and support.
Bringing the audience’s attention back to the music, Singh introduced his next song prior to singing it. “Jogi,” is a Punjabi folk song which he recently recorded with Arneja.
