He shared his experiences acting in the movie “The Black Prince” which released this year and is based on true story of Maharaja Dalip Singh, the last Sikh prince of Punjab . He sang “Dardan Wala Desh,” a track from the movie which was appreciated by everyone present . He also sang “Kuch Lok” a track that he said he composed and wrote in a flight in 2016 and has sung for the first time in this concert. This was followed by ` Nikki Jahi Kudi’ ,` Titli’, `Harh Da Dupehra’ and many others. His songs were thoughtful and every song had a story or a lesson in it. He was accompanied by seven musicians from India who played brilliantly and in sync with his singing. The audience got a chance to be clicked with the singer in a photo booth arranged by the organizers.
Earlier, in his welcome address Dr. Jaswant Singh Dhillon, thanked all the sponsors for their contributions especially Festival of India Association and Punjabi Heritage & Cultural Society for organizing the event. He shared that in 2014 Gurdaas Maan, then Ms. Pooja followed by Manmohan Waris were invited for concerts and this year it was the turn of the `Black Prince’ or Sartaaj for their 5th program. Dr. Pyara Singh shared his views on the importance of the Punjabi language and how it can be saved from fading away from our lives. Pritam Singh Matharu while appreciating the efforts of Sartaaj in the `Black Prince’ mentioned that such movies help in clearing rumors about our golden history and help in letting people know what the facts are. They all wished the audience a very Happy Gurpurab on the occasion of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s birth anniversary.
The show ended around 11pm and left everyone happy and humming the singer’s tracks as they left.
