I wanted to see first-hand what life is really like for many of our friends and neighbors.” On July 21, Neel took a Greyhound bus from Los Angeles to Fresno with $40 in his pocket and one goal – find a job. After living on the streets for a week and visiting dozens of businesses looking for a job, Neel had almost no money left and was directed to a homeless shelter for meals.
The documentary video chronicles Neel’s journey and features stories from individuals he met along the way. “While the politicians who run California pat themselves on the back and claim a ‘California Comeback,’ they willfully ignore millions of our neighbors who are living in poverty,” Kashkari added. “California’s most vulnerable citizens deserve leaders who will fight for them – and as Governor I intend to do just that.”
