IRVINE,CA-India’s Independence Day was celebrated by the local Indian-American families here. The event-- attended by over 150 adults and children -- began with the simultaneous hoisting of the Indian and American national flags by senior members of the community,followed by singing of the national anthems. Patriotic songs and a cultural program kept the audience entertained and and was met with cheers and applause.
A speech on India’s Independence struggle by RC Mehta, a senior member of the Indian community, was very well received.
