Entering its second decade, the blockbuster fundraising event enabled more than 4500 ticket buyers to celebrate this festival of colors and coming of spring.
This year the event was hosted at Seaside Lagoon and sponsored by Live Nation Entertainment and Pepperdine University, Department of Psychology. The crowd grooved to the beats of DJ Darsh. Rasoi Curry Point in Tustin, Bollywood Zaika from the Redondo beach area and New Delhi Kulfiwala provided delicious food to the guests. There was also complementary hot pipping masala chai from TeaIndia.
AID LA-OC team of 12 volunteers worked tirelessly over the last four months to make this event a success. According to the organizers, the money raised will go to AID run projects in marginalized communities of India to achieve sustainable development in various social spheres such as education, livelihood, women empowerment, agriculture, healthcare and environmental stability. The popularity of this event has continually grown over the years and 2018 was no different. In fact, the celebration was sold out for both the days with several people coming to get tickets at the door and through Facebook requests.
The volunteers executed efficiently, right from color distribution, to handling huge lines at check-in, to food and refreshments.
