vibrant cultural program all for the cause of helping with the ongoing relief measures in Nepal which suffered great devastation following the massive earthquake this April. A total of $ 4598 was raised with all proceeds going to the American Red Cross for relief work. Well know local singer Charenjeet ‘CJ’ along with the Miss Orange County California team were the chief guests. Charenjeet regaled the audience with his Bollywood hits and was the star at the pre-show red carpet along with the line-up of beauty queens who added glitz to the event. In attendance were Miss OC USA, Miss OC Teen USA, Miss Youth America, Miss Junior America, Miss Southern Coast Teen, Miss Anaheim, Miss Junior Tustin and Miss Napa Valley among others.
Seema Choudhary , president of the Orange County India Association and the live wire of the event, kept up the momentum at the red carpet egging guests on to take advantage of the photo opps. She also went on to honor the judges of the talent show contest and various vendors and sponsors who were summoned to the red carpet and handed a plaque of appreciation by Charenjeet. . These included Ace Montessori, Pretty Threading and Blowdry, Indian Dance Center, Kondury Family, Anchal Designer Gallery, Solitaire Photographics, Synx Events, ALOHA Mindmath, Haveli, Mountain Mike.
Also present at the red carpet event was Farah Khan, Commissioner of Irvine who was honored with a plaque.
Choudhary thanked her team of organizers for their tremendous support and the main sponsors Ace Montessori and Soka Performing Asts Center. The cultural segment and talent contest which followed kept the audience entertained included music by Charanjeet and Vivek Arya, another local artist who also doubled up as emcee, and performances by students of various dance academies which included Gurukul@Ace, Gopuram, Shristhri School of Performing Arts, Prance and Dance, Letz Dance, Indian Dacne Center, Lilac Group, Bollywood Rhythm, SITA, Adaa Dance Academy,Amna – Dance to Inspire, Akansha & Bees BhnagraBolly. The bridal fashion show was also a hit.The grand finale was a performance by Vivek Arya aptly wrapping up the event.The winners of the talent show were - Best Speech: Aarya Padhye; Most Pleasant: Kanika Shankardass; Most Intelligent: Sharmil Mehta;Most Confident: Jigna Mehta;Best Makeup: Lavina Punjabi;
Junior Miss OC-India- Winner - Henna Noor; 1st Runner up- Ria Kumar; 2nd Runner up- Nimisha Singh.
Miss OC-India:Winner- Melinda Mawley; 1st Runner up- Disha B. Mehta; 2nd Runner up- Akshita Sharma.
Mrs OC-India: Winner- Shubhi Mairh; 1st Runner up- Peeya Pandey; 2nd Runner up- Soniya D’ave.
The judges included Dipali Singh, Pretty Dang, Kanta Dhingra, Vivek Arya,Lara Bhatnagar, Sid Philar, Vishal Vij, Lalita Bakshi,Geeta and Deepak. Speaking with IJ Choudhary said “We are sure the funds raised will provide much needed financial assistance to the earthquake affected people of Nepal and help in rebuilding their beautiful country. Miss OC India is going to be an annual event where we can bring the Indian- American community together for a bigger cause.”
