DALLAS, TX - The Dallas Indian Lions Club had their annual Festival of India on May 17 at the beautiful Park Plaza Tower with a gorgeous view of the entire Dallas area. President of the Dallas Indian Lions Club, Shabnam Modgil presented the prestigious Melvin Jones Award to 3 outstanding individuals from the Indian community. Dr. Prasad Thotakura,
Chairman of the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial of North Texas (MGMNT) for his exemplary community service. Dr. Sacheen Mehta for all his contributions to the Indian community. Mahesh Patel, the Immediate Past President of the Dallas Indian Lions Club for his outstanding service and spirit of Lionism.
Modgil also presented the clubs individual awards of Lion of the Year to Dr. Raghu Naath Singh, Grassroots Lion of the Year to Lion Satish Shah, President's Award to Lion Mahesh Patel. She also gave a very special award on behalf of the Dallas Indian Lions Club to Padma Shri Ashok Mago for having received this title and award from the President of India last month. Entertainment for the evening was an Acapella presentation by students of the University of Texas, Dallas, a fashion show by StudioDdallas.com which included winners and participants of the recently held FunAsiA Beauty pageant 2014. There was also a stand-up comedy show by Comedian Paul Varghese.
