CHINO HILLS, CA - On a beautiful sunny day, 60+ golfers came out to play, enjoy and support the 3rd Annual Captain K. H. Singh Memorial Golf Tournament. Participants came from far and away including Canada, Phoenix, Las Vegas and all over southern California to participate in this event on Oct 26 at Country Club. This event is dedicated to the memory of Captain K.H. Singh (Papaji), the founder of International Institute of Gurmat Studies, Inc (IIGS). The purpose of this event is to give our community an opportunity to come out, have a wonderful day of fun, encourage our youth to take up sports and raise funds for Sikh student scholarships who are pursuing higher education. What started as an idea after passing away of Papaji, has become a regular feature.
Each year, the number of participants has increased and so has the quality of talent. The winning teams registered a score of 15 under for the Eagle flight and for the Birdie flight, winning score was of 7 under.
Day started with registration followed by chipping, putting and bull’s eye contests. Everyone participated in these competitions enthusiastically. Jasdeep Singh won the putting contest and Satyajeet Singh won the chipping contest. There was a tie between the two groups and winner was decided by tie break rules. Winners were the foursome of Jasbir Singh Tung, David Kramer, Malkit Singh Bhasin and Lakha Wahla. Team of Dr Jagmohan Batra, Jagdeep Batra, Mickey Malic and Sunny Bhatti came in second.
Packed lunch was provided by Ranjit Singh and family, warm samosas by courtesy Singh Groceries of Corona and hot tea was served courtesy Peacock Restuarant. MC of the day, Eric Tracy also known as ‘The Mulligan Man’ explained the rules and pulled out couple of raffle prizes.
Jag Reyatt, the official photographer of the tournament did an amazing job capturing some unique shots. He was accompanied by his son Deep who lives in England but happened to be here and decided to accompany his dad.
There was also some magic in the tournament as Dan Mckinnon, the magician entertained the guests with his magic tricks.
The evening program was started with Payal Kaur welcoming everyone and giving a quick glimpse of IIGS in 2013. This was followed by Guninder Kaur introducing the young golfers. The youngest golfer was seven years old who came out with his dad. This was followed by recognizing the Sponsors and special thanks to all especially the volunteers. The day concluded with announcements of tournament winners and raffle giveaways. Thus bringing to a close another memorable golf tournament and dinner banquet!
