FULLERTON, CA- The organizing committee of the Punjabi Community Center put up a grand event celebrating Baisakhi for the 12th year on April 22 at the Plummer Auditorium here. With around 200 participants of all ages, the spirit of Baisakhi was evident at the event. With a house full theater the audience was entertained by a...
wide variety of performances including Bhangra, Bollywood Dance and Kathak. Singing by talented students trained by Prof. Ranjit Singh of Bhai Mardana Institute of Music and Tabla played by students trained by Deepak Chandla of TaalVistaar Music Academy also kept the audience entertained. Several teams from PCC along with teams from Valley Sikh Temple, Walnut Gurdwara, UCLA Bruin Bhangra and Sundar Kala Kendra School entertained the crowd nonstop for three hours.
Prof. Ranjit Singh, was there to grace the event, and was recognized as one of the key contributors to the community for his selfless ‘sewa’ through music. Rashpal Singh was also recognized for his continued contribution to the Punjabi community through the United Sikh Mission.
A big shout out to the volunteers that helped put this event together. The participants, coaches, volunteers of the organization who worked very hard to make this event possible did an excellent job, as always, in keeping with the traditions of Baisakhi.
PCC is an organization dedicated to enriching Punjabi life and promoting Punjabi culture through education, social service, community involvement, and sponsorship of the performing arts. Children and adults work vigorously for 5 months preparing for this annual Baisakhi celebration. It involves kids of all ages and encourages participation at all levels to promote a healthy development in the Punjabi culture.. This event would not have been possible without the support of the sponsors.
