He is a classical singer, very famous for Sunderkand and devotional songs. People love his songs like “Tara Vina Shyam” and “Vhalamni Vaat Kai”. Purohit was born in the village of Dholar near Dabhoi on February,27 1957. From his childhood he loved music and singing. He got his first harmonium at a very young age of 10 years and started learning on his own. Purohit’s music genes are garba, sugam sangeet, bhajans and his influences are folk, Hindustani classical and Sufi.
In 1983 he established the group called ‘Rishabh’ with five friends. His album “Tara Vina Shyam” made him a world famous garba singer. In 1992 he established the ‘Rutambara Group’. Purohit was honored with the Gujarat Gaurav Puraskaar.
Osman Mir was born in Mandvi, Kutchh. His first Guru was his father Husenbhai. He was officially trained by Ismailbhai Datar. About 12 years ago he settled in Rajkot. He started his career as tabla player with late Narayan Swami. Once on the auspicious day of Guru Purnima he went as a tabla player to Pujya Shri Moraribapu’s Ashram at Talgajrda, where Parthivbhai introduced Osman to Bapu praising his vocal ability. From this point of time his golden journey as a singer begun. His debut concert was held at Ahmedabad. Unstoppable, Osman then kept audiences spell bound through thousands of public performances. He has sung playback vocals for nearly 30 Gujarati movies and has performed across the globe in 25 countries. His singing is influenced by Jagjit Singh and Ghulam Ali who are his idols. With the song “Mor Bani Thangat Kare” from the movie ‘Ram Leela’, he entered Bollywood with a bang. His voice created magic and this song achieved 16 lakh hits within no time. Osman Mir is described as an ‘Upanishad of Secularism.’ This Muslim artist has performed mostly at Hindu temples, at the Ashrams of Hindu Mahamandleshwars and invariably he is an indispensible part of ‘Ramcharit Paryana’ of Pujya Shri Morari Bapu.
