LONG BEACH, CA - After over an hour of waiting patiently, finally the moment arrived that hundreds of fans were anticipating, as Atif Aslam known for making actors sound melodious by bringing their songs to life as well as singing his original compositions, rocked the stage on Nov 25 at the Terrace Theater here.
The show was hosted by Manoj Kay Tee and Anil Shah of Stagepaint Productions. Having recently given his voice to Salman Khan in the film “Bajrangi Bhaijaan” to bring to life the song “Tu Chahiye” as well as giving Varun Dhawan a harmonious voice in the very popular “Jeena Jeena” from “Badlapur,” Aslam was chanted on to the stage by his mesmerized fans.
An amazing start to the Thanksgiving celebrations, Aslam jogged on stage looking dapper in a custom tailored black suit with a white button down dress shirt to sing his debut song in the Bollywood industry, “Woh Lamhe” from the film “Zeher.” Continuing, Aslam sang the title song from his second album “Doorie.”
The fans cheered and screamed as the introductory beats of the next track began “Tera Hone Laga Hoon” from the movie “Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani.”Aslam’s most recently released track followed with the same enthusiasm from the audience who sang along whenever the microphone was pointed in their direction. Following “Tu Chahiye” came another one of his songs from his second album, “Doorie” titled “Mahiya Ve Soniya.”In between songs, Aslam heard a female fan scream “I love you” to which he responded, “I love you too.” Ironically, later when a male audience member screamed, “I love you” Aslam’s response was “That’s weird, thank you!”
The evening continued with Aslam creating his own interpretation and creating a remix of two of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s songs “Allah Hoo” and “Mera Piya Ghar Aaya” which he has sung in previous performances as well.
His next song was dedicated to “all the pretty ladies in the house.” In response the audience screamed as they heard the beginning tune of the track “Pehli Nazar Mein.”Moving on to the older generation of songs, Aslam sang “Jab Koi Baat Bigad Jaaye,” Kya Hua Tera Wada,” and “Gulaabi Aankhen Jo Teri Dekhi.” Bringing the track list back to his Bollywood songs, Aslam continued with “Main Rang Sharbaton Ka.” The fans went wild, screaming, cheering, and roaring at various points of the performance conveying to him how much they loved him, which he happily accepted and continued singing as a form of reciprocation.
Singing “Lambi Judai” Aslam wanting to make sure his fans were still entertained, asked them if they were tired or wanted to go home to which they unanimously screamed NO! While singing “Jeena Jeena,” Aslam walked off stage onto the main floor to be close to his fans. Taking this rare opportunity, one of the fans stood right beside him to take a picture for which he posed as he continued singing. Aslam also shook hands with many of his fans during the show. However, there were a few people who refused to let go of his hand so he had to forcefully pull his hand away! Aslam called the promoters on stage to thank them for everything they had done. The national promoter was Shri Balaji Entertainment and local promoter was Stagepaint Productions. Though the show was on a weekday, that too on Thanksgiving eve, the cold weather and heavy traffic did not keep fans away. The sponsors and show coordinators worked extremely hard to overcome all these odds to ensure that the fans would not be disappointed in any way.
Bringing the night to an end Aslam sang “Zindagi Aa Raha Hoon Main” accompanied by dancers for this grand finale. Aslam walked off stage after thanking his fans for being a great audience and making the night as memorable as possible.
Earlier in the evening, Gunjan Singh, the opening act, entertained the audience with a wide selection of popular songs which included among others “Chura Liya Hai Tumne Jo Dil Ko,” “Lag Ja Gale,” “Piya Tu Ab To Aaja,” ``Chikni Chameli,” and “Sheila Ki Jawani.”
