music performance, Jagdish Purohit, IASH Vice President, introduced the board members who were in attendance. The program continued with revealing and clapping for audience members who will be celebrating their birthdays and/or anniversaries in December. In order to make every individual feel included in the celebration Amit Anand chose to include all the birthdays and anniversaries that took place or will take place in the remainder of 2014.
Ram Singhania, IASH Secretary made some announcements concerning elections that are set to take place in January and he also stated that the next major event would be for Valentine’s Day on Feb. 7. Singhania then went on to introduce the singer of the evening, as an international singer who has sang in various locations who needs no introduction. Amit Anand said a few words thanking all who were in attendance. He said he would like the first song to be dedicated to all the lives lost in Peshawar and launched off with a commonly known bhajan “O Palan Haare.” Anand then continued singing an assortment of songs from every decade since the 1950s. Some of them were “Aaj Kal Tere Mere Pyaar” from “Brahmachari” and “Sama hai Suhana Suhana” from “Ghar Ghar Ki Kahani.” Anand’s song selection even entertained the current generation with recent hits like “Tum Hi Ho” from “Aashiqui 2” and “Lungi Dance” from Chennai Express. Anand sang entire songs, remixes, as well as mashups that he meshed together in a seamless manner. In addition he sang songs in various languages; mainly in Hindi incorporating some Punjabi and Gujarati.
Audience members enjoyed themselves so much that after witnessing them dance in their seats Anand requested them to take to the floor and dance. Audience members put in requests for their favorite songs and Anand took the requests and fulfilled them as well.
The melodious night came to an end after nearly seven decades of songs were sung, danced to, and enjoyed.
