for their money. Kicking off with “Kiss me Baby” from Garam Masala and other popular Bollywood hits he swept the audience off their feet. He made the show interactive and demonstrated his extraordinary pianist skills much appreciated by the audience. He went on to sing `Pyaar Hai’a song, he had recorded in 1991 which he had never sung until this show. He continued with a fabulous piece along with a musician in his band who played the dholak on Sami’s cues, which went down very well with the audience.
Bearing his heart to the audience, he took a break from singing and spoke about his weight loss journey, dismissing rumors about liposuction and surgery. He said he lost weight due to hard work, determination and exercise making it clear that anybody can lose weight if they set their heart to it, saying his story has been an inspiration to many. Sami also talked about losing his father to cancer, a traumatic loss for him as he had been close to his father. The evening continued with him belting out many more popular hits like ‘Ishq Hota Nahin Sabhi ke Liye, and old favorites like ‘Tera Chehra,’‘ Bheegi Bheegi Raton Mein,’ ‘Kabhi to Nazar Milao.’ Jermaine Jackson who was also present at the concert, was introduced as a legend by Sami. Sami ended the show by bringing on stage and introducing the promoters Mike Sethi,Rashmi Shah and Rakesh Patel. He also graciously introduced his band who had travelled with him from India as truly talented musicians calling them his “backbone.” Sami also thanked his wife Zoha, who was seated in the audience. The Los Angeles show was the grand finale of his North American tour which began on March 13 from Dallas followed by shows in Houston, Orlando, New Jersey, Vancouver, Toronto, Atlanta and many more, making this night extra special for Sami. For the finale, he requested the audience to get up and dance to his famous ‘Lift Kara De.’ Fans swooned and danced to the popular tune. Amazingly, every single person in the audience was dancing, no matter what their age!
It was truly a grand finale. Earlier, Qusro Patel, emcee kicked off the show welcoming the audience with shayaries and jokes. Bappi started the concert off with songs from yesteryears such as,‘Dilbar Mere Kab Tak Mjhe,’ followed by Sahiba singing ‘ Lovely’ from ‘Happy New Year’,‘ Yaar Miley’ from ‘Kick’ and ‘Baby Doll’ from ‘Ragini MMS’. It was an evening cherished by all who attended and a concert which will long be remembered.
