MILIPITAS, CA –Members of Overseas Friends of Bharatiya Janata Party (OFBJP) gathered at Swagat restaurant here to honor the visiting Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation G.M. Siddeshwara. welcomed the minister on his arrival. The event started with the rendering of the Indian national anthem. Gadasalli introduced the minister to the audience speaking on the minister’s rise as a popular leader of the farmer’s community to the national level. Siddeshwara and his father have been the back bone of the BJP in the Davangere district for decades winning Lok Sabha seats repeatedly with overwhelming support of the people for their honesty, commitment and simplicity.
Bramra, Dhruv, Gadasalli and Bakshi honored the minister with a plaque, appreciating his service to the mother land and its people. Siddeshwara then spoke in simple Hindi, to the surprise of one and all. He said till the morning of the swearing in, he was not sure about being selected as a minister and it was a great surprise for him when Prime Minister Narendra Modi called him to get ready for the swearing in. The Minister thanked and complimented all the workers for their efforts and said, the BJP victory was due to the hard work of millions of workers all over India and abroad.
During the question and answer sessions many questions were asked about good air connections to India from San Francisco and Los Angeles. The minister strongly urged the workers to submit their requests to him for consideration with regard to the requirements for air line connections via Air India. This event was made possible by the joint collaboration of OFBJP chapters of Northern and Southern CA. It was attended by members of HSS, VHP, SEVA, FISI, FIA, NFIA, Gujarati Samaj, Veerasiva Association of North America, VSNA and members of Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka associations.
The event ended with a sumptuous dinner where Dhruv and many others briefed the minister on the pre election activities and campaign undertaken by the OFBJP. The vote of thanks was given by Bakshi.
