LOS ANGELES, CA - The State Attorney General Kamala Harris, who has been seeing Los Angeles lawyer Douglas Emhoff for "about a year," said on April 6 that she is engaged him. Emhoff did the classic proposal thing - even dropping to one knee - in her South of Market apartment on March 27.

Harris, who now wears a simple diamond and platinum ring, told the media they haven't set a date, but it'll probably be within six months and a small wedding. Emhoff is partner in charge of the L.A. law firm Venable LLP. The firm's website says he has "significant complex commercial litigation experience, particularly in media, advertising and entertainment litigation matters."
Married and divorced four years ago, he has two kids, one in college and one in high school. They are both 49 years old, he older by a week.
