MUMBAI - Micro-blogging website Twitter introduced an emoji on Ganesh festival, and the special emoji has won over hearts globally. According to a statement issued by the site, the number of tweets using hashtag #GaneshChaturthi that went out from September 3 to 6, were 4,80,000. There was also a spike on Monday morning with 600 tweets per minute. The first-ever Ganesh festival emoji was launched on September 4.
People can activate it using hashtags like #GaneshChaturthi, #HappyGaneshChaturthi or #Ganeshotsav. After the hashtags are used, a Lord Ganesha emoji is activated next to the hashtag. It will be active until September 16. Viral Jani, Head (Media partnerships), Twitter India, had previously said that the emoji was launched "to delight millions of Indian users celebrating this moment".
